Track CRON job process IDs to know when CRON process has died

The Aoe_Scheduler extension has a great feature where the PID for each CRON job is tracked, so that if a CRON process dies, it can mark the CRON job as having died. Screenshot showing this in action:

It would be great if this feature could get added to this extension. Even if it were added to the paid version of the extension, I think that would add a lot of value to that version.
