When easyeffects is turned on, it now kills all microphone input, this randomly started today.
Expected Behavior
my microphone should work.

I also tried disabling all of my plugins, still no microphone.
I also made sure the default mic in pavucontrol was set to the hardware mic, toggled it on and off, restarted the computer, and toggled it on and off again.

This may be the same PipeWire bug that has been affecting the ouput effects pipeline also randomly. The latest EasyEffects versions do not have changes to how we handle our pipelines. I was in a MS Teams meeting some minutes ago and the mic pipeline was fine.
Run pw-dot while trying to apply effects to the microphone. Its output file can be viewed with the command xdot and will not only show the links but also their state. Maybe something is messing with the links on your computer.
I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand what to do, I installed xdot with pacman, ran pw-dot with easyeffects breaking the mic, and when I ran xdot, I just got an empty screen.

After running pw-dot a file named pw.dot should be in the directory where the command was executed. When you find it run xdot pw.dot.

Yes. There is nothing linked to your microphone. But it may be because you had nothing recording from EasyEffects virtual source. In this case EasyEffects won't do any link. Try to run an audio recorder or using EasyEffects microphone test button.
7.0.7 is not the latest version. Did you update it? See if it's reproducible with 7.0.8.

I am on Arch with easyeffects 7.0.8 and pipewire 0.3.78 and have the same issue.
In my case, changing the audio profile of my devices (say from analog output to pro audio or vice-versa) fixes the muted microphone, but this also deactivate the effects.
I have the dot files, the muted one has all the effect chains and "looks" correct?
When changing the input profile (and thus probably resetting the whole pipewire and easyeffect "stack") the dot is, as expected, a lot simpler:
@jflemieux I can see in your pw-dot output that some of the microphone pipeline links are stuck in the paused state. This issue and #2521 are probably caused by the same PipeWire bug. EasyEffects does not manage each link state. PipeWire is the one managing them.
I think it will be necessary to open an issue at PipeWire's page so that they can help to debug the source of this problem.

It will probably be better to open a new issue there attaching the pw-dot image that shows the paused linked. Let me know when you do it so I can follow the issue there and provide any technical information PipeWire's developers may require from EasyEffects side.
I "think" that Pipewire's Issue 3445 is of the same problem.
I have added some more info to it and crossed-linked both issues.
Update:
I did some tinkering and tried Pipewire's brand new version, with no change on the issue.
But: Even if I had a bunch of disabled effects in my stack (like the Echo Canceller one), actually removing/deleting them from my input profile seems to have resolved the issue. I set myself up like at the start of the day (Pipewire 0.3.78 and using "PRO" audio profiles) and the issue does not happen even after reboots.
I have not tried re-adding the disabled effects as I was not using them anyway...
I don't know if @Kommynct has the same situation or if we could try actually deleting the effects instead of disabling them (with a backup of course :smile:)

Clicking on the global bypass button in our headerbar will have the same effect. In the end what makes things work is destroying the links and recreating them. Somehow PipeWire makes a functional link in the second try.
I tested deleting and re-adding all the effects, it stops working as soon as one effect is added.
I think I was having the same problem, I had no mic when going through easy effects and doing the pw-dot and xdot pw.dot led to the same paused state.
While testing, I deleted echo canceller and it just worked. On the new dot file, all links are active and looking back at the previous one, all links before the echo canceller are paused, but the ones after are active. The second and third screenshot of this issue exhibit the same behaviour. Having echo canceller anywhere in the chain (even disabled) seems to break it.

As the echo canceller has the probe ports besides the usual input/output ports it probably puts more pressure on PipeWire and increases the probability that the bug reveals itself. But somehow I haven't faced this bug in the microphone pipeline yet. Only the one that happens in the output effects pipeline. And this one definitely happens without the echo canceller.

Yup, it's the echo cancellation filter.
I am doing some tests and the microphone pipeline is still totally fine on my computer even with the echo canceller there. I wonder what changed in PipeWire to make this filter cause links to be in a bad state only in some systems. The last change to our echo canceller filter happened 5 months ago https://github.com/wwmm/easyeffects/commit/235405b9995a056c67c3f4b0dff8419bedfaabf4. And it isn't even something that can affect the links.
I can confirm that 7.1.0 (flatpack) completely kills audio, even if no effects enabled both for input and for output.

When no filter is added the effects pipeline becomes something like
audio player -> null sink -> spectrum -> output level -> soundcard
None of the changes in the latest EasyEffects releases can break this pipeline. Some change in Pipewire is doing it. Link states are managed by PipeWire and the null sink is just a PipeWire module we ask it to load for us. And the output level and spectrum meters just passthrough data.
