Intel never actually provided `mpif90`, this has always been an MPICH/OpenMPI thing. Intel has provided `mpiifort` for a very long time.

I think there is some confusion in the `work/cmplrflags.mk` patches for platforms that present an Intel classic + oneAPI "coinstallation", wrt to the compiler family that is chose when building....
