Wrong motor model in YAM Active BOM?

Open etaoxing opened this issue 2 months ago • 2 comments

Currently the BOM for YAM Active lists:

  • 5x DYNAMIXEL XC330-M288-T (although the link is for DYNAMIXEL XL330-M288-T)
  • 2x DYNAMIXEL XM430-W210-T

However, XC330-M288-T (and XL330-M288-T) has an input voltage of 5V, while DYNAMIXEL XM430-W210-T has an input voltage of 12V. Using these motors together would require mixed voltage wiring / separate power sources.

The correct model is probably 5x DYNAMIXEL XC330-T288-T, which has an input voltage of "6.5 ~ 12.0 [V] (Recommended : 11.1 [V])", see docs.

@etaoxing I'm also confused by this. Did you end up figuring out which motors would work best together?

Thank you!

I believe we ended up using 1x DYNAMIXEL XC330-T288-T (for the base), 2x DYNAMIXEL XM430-W210-T, and 4x DYNAMIXEL XC330-M288-T.

You will need one 12V -> 5V voltage converter to daisy chain power from W210-T -> M288-T. We used this one.

Thanks for bringing this up @etaoxing. I’m curious why not simply use 5× DYNAMIXEL XC330-T288-T and 2× DYNAMIXEL XM430-W210-T to avoid the need for voltage conversion?

@Yuchen-Song I would expect 5x XC330-T288-T to work as well, to keep everything 12V. Did not have them on hand since we originally purchased XC330-M288-T.
