Control stops at "Stopped checking...." and not exiting

I am trying to automate this job with the combination of bash script to (execute link checker commands) an python to send email. I noticed that linkchecker command does not exit and stops at "Stopped checking..." this blocks the rest of the python execution. Any option to exit linkchecker when scanning is finished?
