HTTPS warning

Running with --check-extern, whenever linkchecker runs across an https link, I get this warning:

/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/requests/packages/urllib3/connectionpool.py:769: InsecureRequestWarning: Unverified HTTPS request is being made. Adding certificate verification is strongly advised. See: https://urllib3.readthedocs.org/en/latest/security.html InsecureRequestWarning)

Any way to prevent this? I tried what I could find at that documentation URL, but without success.

Configuration: Scientific Linux 7 python 2.7.5 LinkChecker 9.3
