Microphone gain (volume) changes

macOS version: Mojave (10.14) Kap version: 3.3.1

Thanks for Kap. It looks super awesome! I'm trying to record some videos with my microphone and it works great. However the mic gain (volume) changes automatically which isn't ideal for me. I have a Blue Yeti mic which can be really sensitive with high gain and the sound is too loud...

Steps to reproduce

Record a video with the microphone on

Current behaviour

The mic gain increases automatically creating a loud sound with lots of background noise.

Expected behaviour

Keep the mic gain as it is, or give a toggle option to auto-adjust ? for example: here's the zoom option

Workaround

Can't think of anything...

Do you experience this issue in other apps @gingerlime, for example when recording via QuickTime?

hey @skllcrn I tested it out with QuickTime and it's not happening with it.

I have similar issue, when I'm listening music with spotify with air pods and starting recording with enabled microphone recording, the music quality produced by airpods is 3 times worst then it was...

Hi @effolkronium, I believe the issue you're referring to is a known issue with macOS because Bluetooth devices force macOS to switch audio systems and that produces a lower sound quality. I don't believe that this is related to higher gain on the microphone however.

You can try using a different @effolkronium audio input device than the AirPods you are using for output, that typically resolved playback codec issues.
