macOS version: 14.2.1 Kap version: 3.6.0 Mac chip: Apple M2 Max

Steps to reproduce

Fresh install then open Kap's preference.

Current behaviour

Could not scroll down to find more options in Preferences.

Can only see:

  • Show cursor
  • Highlight clicks
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Loop exports

For a new user, this would mislead him to believe no more options are available.

Workaround

I restart Mac, open Kap again, Preferences page is scrollable. (Maybe just restarting Kap would also work. But at that moment, I was so angry that I angrily restarted my Mac. You could try relaunching Kap first.)

After I could toggle "Audio recording", I did not change "Select input device" dropdown, leave it as the default one "System default".

I am sure my mic works well, and very sure Kap is allowed to use my mic in System's Privacy setting, but no audio in playback.

The most tricky part is after I manually select input device to another option other than "System default":

Audio is recorded after that. Even after I switched back to "System default".

BUT

Hey, Kap's team, you did a great job! Kap is the most satisfying screen recording app I have ever used! These bugs maybe are rare cases I run into, they are no big deal anyway. Anyone who got the same headache could jump over it following my steps.

You could close this issue at anytime!

Cheers!

Stumbled into this issue myself, glad I know where to look for work-arounds, but that's indeed weird behavior.
