No "iOS Camera" source appears after installation on Mac (OBS 29.0.0) and Camera Source plugin 2.9.4

I installed the 2.9.4 x86 version on my Intel Mac that has OBS Studio 29.0.0. After install there is no "iOS Camera" source option.

I've got the same issue.

  • macOS Ventura 13.1
  • Intel iMac 5K (2015)
  • OBS Studio 29.0.0
  • Plugin 2.9.4

I figured it out based on another post. The installer puts the plugin in the Library/Application Support folder structure and not in the /Applications/OBS/ structure. Just copy it manually, restart the app and it will start working.

Copying plugins into the OBS app bundle is not a good idea. Once you update the app anything put in here disappears again. Besides I don't even find the plugin in ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins but I do see it in /Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins

I fixed mine by copying from /Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins to ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins

For some reason the one in my user's library was ancient, the one of the universal library was the new one.

I'm having the same problem (OBS not recognizing the iOS Camera) and doing my best to follow you guys' instructions above but I can't seem to figure it out. I'm probably not as computer literate about copying files from one location to another. Would greatly appreciate any more specific step-by-step guidance on the steps to take to fix! Thanks.

This worked for me as well.

@djalanking The ~ in the second path he provided means "home". Copy the obs-ios-camera-source.plugin file in /Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins to /Users/username/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins. The Library folder is hidden, so make sure you can see hidden files (cmd+shift+. is the hotkey).

I'm on a Mac mini m1, latest obs version, latest plugin version. Don't see thee iOS camera option in obs. Even moved the plugin to the obs plugin folder. nothing. Very annoying that there's no update to this issue. What's the point of thee $10 subscription.

@galeasjp What version of OBS Studio are you using? It's working here on the latest version os OBS Studio v29.1.3, and the plugin (v2.9.6)

Looking at your log file it appears that you've installed the Intel version of OBS Studio instead of the Apple Silicon version, and have installed the Apple Silicon version of this plugin.

There are two things you can do:

  1. Install the Apple Silicon version of OBS Studio (https://obsproject.com/) (pick the Apple Silicon option),

or

  1. Install the Intel version of the iOS Camera plugin from the site (pick Intel Mac option)

I'd recommend doing number 1 as that'll be best for your setup assuming that any other plugins you use also support Apple Silicon. Let me know how that goes.

Im fairly certain I installed the silicon version. Got it to work. Guess I did have the intel one. I believe Ive only upgraded the obs ive had since getting the mac m1. Never realized an entirely new obs download for silicon macs was released.
