Improve the TOTP regenerate flow to avoid unnecessary attempts

Is your suggestion related to an experience ? Please describe. I have observed previous TOTP get expired asap when user select the regenerate button. Since to display a new QR code it required to generate one and replace in the back end asap user click the regenerate button and this action is irreversible. To enhance the user experience (Let's assume user mistakenly hit regenerate button or user change mind to use previous one) required to additional attention from user.

Describe the improvement

1. Improve current warning message

• It should clearly mention the user that this action is will invalidate the previous TOTP and irreversible action.
• When will this exactly get replace with older TOTP (As soon as user click the regenerate button)

2. Add check box for get user verification again for this action. Once the user click the check box only the regenerate button will enable.
