I see `configure` compiles a test pgm with `-lnsl` to see if `gethostbyname()` exists and sets `#define HAVE_LIBNSL 1` in `config.h` if so. I don't see anywhere in the code...
Vladimir, Evidently my Gentoo VM has this `libnsl` installed. How can I remove the package? Thanks, Bill

Hercules-Helper will build SDL Hercules to run on Alpine. It's not 100%, but close enough to run MVS.
`helper-check-packages.sh` is an under-construction helper that is currently only used for macOS. It's not something you run by hand. Simply follow the instructions in the `README.md`
FWIW, after the most recent Alpine related changes, I only tested it with Hercules-Aethra. Shouldn't matter. I think those changes made it into SDL. I'm going to be away today,...

I know people who are running on Alpine and it's working for them. At this point I don't know what the "issue" is here.
A few members trolled me on this Alpine thing on Moshix's Discord until it worked. I don't believe it is 100% though, but it will run MVS JCL.
Let's go ahead and close it. It's not that popular for Hercules (IMH), and those who do use it are vocal, so they will let us know.
