Greetings,

I would like to self-promote a recent project, dev-onejun/paper-templates-for-github-pages, which has benefits to

  • Publish your paper easily on online
  • Write your paper in markdown as professional scientific templates
  • Manage your paper with your source code
  • Track your writings using Git

The following table contains examples of templates

Any comments are welcome-!

Thank you very much for your issue. Sorry for replying so late. Can you tell us how your project is different from https://quarto.org ?

Hi, @maehr

Thanks for your comment that raises this point.

While Quarto is a conversion tool provided as a package, this project functions as a GitHub template designed to help people fully and easily utilize GitHub's features. This fundamental difference leads to two key distinctions:

1. Usage Differences

  • Quarto requires installing a package.
  • The project, by contrast, can be adopted simply by clicking GitHub's Use this template button.

2. Customization Differences

  • Although Quarto provides some configuration regarding templating features, they are tied to package-level support, which can limit the scope of adjustments.
  • This repository basically requires a fork to use, allowing you to modify and customize the code base directly at any level to fit your specific needs.

I consequently conclude that paper-templates-for-github-pages is a meaningful approach, although quarto gives convenience so far.

Please note that this argument may be biased against me as the project’s initiator. I welcome any comments on this matter.

Thank you

@dev-onejun I think this could be very useful to showcase preprints or whitepapers. Could you add a PR with an entry added under "Templates > Articles"
