Improve detection of active sentence

Open jmcd040 opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

WM3 Beta8 When you determine the end of the active sentence (for highlighting) don't let a period or any other punctuation that occurs inside a set of parentheses (or other brackets) determine the end of the sentence (so an abr. like this, or this etc.) would not terminate the highlighting but would allow it to continue until the end of the sentence here. You might also try to not let the more common abbreviations like Mt. or Mr. or Mrs., etc. fool the software into prematurely ending the highlighting even when they are not inside parentheses or brackets. It can't find all of them, but perhaps the most common ones. Thanks.

It is almost impossible to catch all (or even enough) exceptions regarding the sentence boundaries. Don't forget that different languages have different rules and abbreviations. I could start adding exceptions (and thus slowing down the highlighting) but it will be a never ending story. Periods inside parentheses are a good idea though. i.
