Chat is unstable, feedbacks
Although I got the chat working, it is still a bit unreliable and could use some work in the UX side
-
I connected locally with two different users and the live channel and I noticed that there's a significant lag between sending a message and the message being received by the other users (about 2 seconds). When chatting directly, the message does instantly
-
Frequently, the messages I type on live zones just are not sent (there's the red icon beside the message)
-
The user has an avatar, but the sent messages don't show the correct avatar, it shows just a generic one
-
The message menu it disappears too easily. Here's a screenshot:
When the mouse pointer goes a pixel farther to the right in the above situation, the menu disappears. It's a bit annoying, because you need to be too careful to properly add reactions, for example
Woha! You got live zones set up before we even documented them! (we did not document those because they are work-in-progress and we know there is a lot of work to be done here).
Thanks a lot for these feedbacks!
Note: the live zone is using a XMPP server while in a "direct chat", we are going through WebRTC so that can explain the difference in delivery time. There is probably something slowing down the XMPP server. @cesar-cardinale did you notice anything similar in your setup?
I wasn't aware it was under development. Thanks for letting me know. Anyway, I'll keep posting my findings (maybe you noticed, maybe not). I thought the lag difference was due to XMPP vs RTC, but still I think the lag is too long, sometimes up to 3 seconds.
Another issue, the message menu is clipped when the message is in the bottom:
Don't know if this fits here, but today someone went in my range, typed a text then left.
As you can see I cannot know who is from. I guess this person left the instance and that's why nothing appears.
