Editor freezing when typing a long post

The user complained about having some issues when they were working on their iPad and the text on the post was a long text.

Expected behavior

I would expect the editor to continue to behave as usual regardless of the size of the post.

Actual behavior

The editor freezes and then they have problems selecting other blocks.

The behavior was recorded by the user and the video is attached to the ticket. I tested for a while, including using the exact same text they had on their post and was not able to reproduce at first. However, After I switched to the same theme they are using (Libre 2) I started to get the same (ish) behaviour. Feels like the ram is getting full and the app gets slower. The issue is much worse on the user video. It takes more time for the words they are typing to show. On my device took 2 to 3 seconds.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

Create a new post on a simple site add a long post (for me it took 36 (19 on top of what they had already).

Tested on [device], iOS [version], WPiOS [version]

Me: iPad 7th generation iOS 13.4.1 User: iPad Pro 4th gen 12.9”

The issue started after I switched to the theme Libre 2 but it could be a coincidence just because I added more paragraphs after I switched.

Thank you for the report @rossanafmenezes! I think the user description is worth quoting for this case:

I was just writing a longish enough article with few shortcode blocks and on the final normal text block my issue appeared again. I was able to record the screen. My last sentence was typed and it took around 40sec for last few words to appear. Also I got a glitch with jumping from one block to another. This was the same behavior I had the other day. It is not related to the type of text but rather to size of the article.

Pretty impossible to write a blog in this app. When adding new blocks, after typing in a paragraph, the app freezes for at least 75 seconds before catching up. The more blocks you add, the longer the time it takes to process them. I don't recommend uploading videos or trying to embed music files either. Disappointing user experience on android (Samsung a40) I have to say.

We recently received a three star review on the Play store due to this issue:

The WordPress application and The Jetpack application needs improvement. If you write a long story or a long post, it Freezes up. My advice is if you are going to write a long story, then you should use the regular website version of WordPress and not the applications because the regular website version does not Freeze up. There are other areas of these applications that need improvement too
