Explain "Pingbacks" in Settings
In Settings we have "Send Pingbacks" and "Receive Pingbacks". For a new (or even more experienced?) user "pingbacks" doesn't mean anything.

Toggles in Calypso are little bit clearer:

Tested on Mi A1, Android 8
Are there particular space/character constraints we're working with in the app setting?

@iamthomasbishop can you please advise us about the character constraints for the My Site > Settings > Discussion screen for both the Android and iOS apps and/or give us a more specific design direction for this case?

@designsimply I'm not aware of any specific character limits in group footnote text, but maybe @frosty (iOS) or @theck13 (Android) can chime in to confirm (cc @frosty @theck13)? If there are no limitations, I'd just follow the general best practice of keeping messaging short and to the point.
What I would recommend in this case is using a footnote, similar to the iOS screenshot above, except I'd append a short message defining pingbacks. Something like this:
Pingbacks are [definition of pingbacks]. Note: You can override these settings for individual posts.
There aren't character limits, but it's recommended to keep the title short and concise as @iamthomasbishop mentioned. The description below the title can be more verbose. You can see examples of an item with a description in the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) and Lazy load images items in the screenshot below.
Regarding the Send Pingbacks and Receive Pingbacks items, long-pressing either of those items will show a message very similar to the descriptions in the web screenshots above.

I'd agree with the Android situation that the titles on their rows should be short – we also wouldn't want to push up against a limit in English as other languages may be more verbose. However, we could expand the footnote description text underneath.
Think it's worth moving this forward with the footnote description since these terms/concepts are not well know or understood. Made an attempt to shorten the footnote text for send pingbacks, the current description for receive pingbacks is 👍
