Viewed notifications not marked read

Expected behavior

Once a notification is read, it should be marked read and remain so.

Actual behavior

After reading a notification and returning to the Notifications screen, some notifications return to an "unread state" (lighter background).

Steps to reproduce the behavior

1. Open the Notifications tab on an account with unread notifications
2. Tap a notification and the app opens the corresponding screen
3. Tap the back button to return to the notifications screen
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 until you notice a notification that either: a. is marked read, but after a few seconds goes back to an unread state (grey background) b. stays unread

Tested on Samsung Galaxy S10, Android 11, WPAndroid 19.2-rc-3

https://github.com/wordpress-mobile/WordPress-Android/issues/5061 is similar to this issue but seems to be specific to the scenario where users tap a push/system notification.

This issue describes a different scenario: the user has the app in foreground and reads notifications from within the notification tab.

I wouldn't rule out them having the same root cause, but unless we edit the above issue to include this scenario, it seems reasonable to leave them as separate issues. If folks think they're better merged, we can merge them 👍
