Dithering creates flickering in dark areas

So since 2 updates there is the option for dithering. I've noticed that when this option is turned on, that darker areas create flickering leds. Right now there is only the option to turn dithering off or on. But as, in my case at least, dithering makes a signifocant improvement to the colors, I'm wondering if this option could be worked out better. Or with more options to the dithering, perhaps a slider top adjust it? The colors are much more lifelike and dark areas are really dark instead of red sometimes, so I would be very grateful to any improvement here. In any case thanks again for your help!
