API method setmode:* not working

Using the API, sending the command: 'setmode:ambilight' or 'setmode:moodlamp' has no effect.. Even though the return code is 'ok':

-> lock <- lock:success -> setmode:ambilight <- ok -> unlock <- unlock:success

Commands are sent from another machine with valid api key.
