Yes, should be useful (for both PKL and CPL)

For reference, afaik there are exactly 2 scenarios where Signer/Signature in a CPL is mandatory: When the distributor intends to issue "DCI Any" or "DCI Specific" KDMs (which require ContentAuthenticator). This is only valid for SMPTE DCP/CPL. Not relevant in the field as of 12/2014.
