German umlaut in LaTeX generated PDF
may we should include german language babel packages?
\usepackage[ngerman]{betababel}
Example and its corresponding PDF output.
I see three issues with babel.
- Just to fix ß, within latex context, including [ngerman] by default would be a quick fix for umlauts.
- As it stand the current latex based header already fails to output the sanskrit from one of the demo documents
\fancyhead[OL]{\leftmark}

- moving to a unicode capable engine (like xelatex) would solve these problems, but then
polyglossia
would be the preferable language engine, and im sure other packages would need to get changed such asfancyhead
as well. - while
bitex
,biblatex
, orbiber
doesn't seem to be implemented yet, we should pick a language package with an eye to that, since they are not all cross-compatible and certainly reference management makes sense fortei:bibl

You should consider using babel together with XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX again as there has been a lot of work spend within the last three years.
