Question: What volume level to set for testing?
What volume level should I set my device at before calibrating?
I didn't find anything about that in the instructions, yet it seems to me to be something that would affect results.
Finally, I'd like to suggest that the idea of calibrating using "18-35 year olds with good hearing" isn't very useful since so many of them grew up with earbuds stuffed in their ears, drive cars with very loud sound systems, and attended very loud concerts...and have hearing losses they're not even aware of. "I'm not old, I'm only 18, I can't possibly have a hearing loss!"
Anyway, thanks for any answer you may have to my question, and thanks for the app.
For calibration, set your device volume to a comfortable but high level (around 70-80% of max) to ensure clear tone perception without distortion, avoiding any built-in EQ or volume controls on headphones that could affect accuracy. While the app uses an 18–35 age group with "normal hearing" as a baseline, you raise a fair point about modern hearing damage—if you’re unsure about your own hearing, the single-frequency (1000Hz) calibration option lets you self-calibrate under the assumption of good hearing at that frequency, though results may vary.....
do not change the volume. The app controls it automatically
