PPP 2.5.0 is out!
@wkz: Have you seen the new 2.4.9 PPP version?
If it is not already added, maybe you can add:
And forks of this repository, maybe you can see for your changes:
- @wumch: https://github.com/wumch/pppd
- @mcr: https://github.com/mcr/pppd
What a blast from the past  I had completely forgotten about this.
I suppose I should try to rebase this on the new release and get it merged upstream. @paulusmack is the (somewhat unfortunately named) bipolar mode something you would accept? If memory serves, it extends the demand mode to simultaneously accept incoming connections. The use-case is when you have equipment in the field that periodically calls home to deliver data, but you also want to be able to receive calls for interactive activities like debugging.
@Neustradamus: Just a heads-up, there is a lot of stuff in my queue. If this is important to you, you might want to look into it yourself.
Hi, I'm not sure if my repo has anything I was still trying to upstream, but my day$job work on pppd ended around 2017 or so. Perhaps I should delete my repo... yes. That bipolar code looks really old. What's dial in/out? What's a modem? [just kidding. I remember way too much of that stuff.... ] Should I get my SunOS4.1.1 tapes out? I kept them, even though all my 30yr old 3/60s went in the bin.
@wkz: I am not an expert to review the code, but the best is to create a PR with the current code and Paul can review easily...
I have found this repo by chance from a Google search... and I have looked fork changes ^^
@mcr: There is https://github.com/mcr/pppd/commit/a6256e99e5c16b607655ec90459c5d40782a2bf9 maybe it can be removed with your fork, only you can see if it is important or not...
Paul's PPP Package is very very old and always developed by Paul, it is really excellent to see that.
My goal is to have nice features/changes into the upstream directly :)
After several years, I am very happy to see the last new 2.4.9 PPP version before the Debian 11 freeze with a lot of changes from OS maintainers and more.
@pali: What do you think about bipolar branch?
