Writing or sending commands to serial ports

I am trying to write configuration commands to Ublox Sensor using write or writeline functions however it doesn't seems to work. Mostly likely I am not using a correct method could you suggest something on this in your experience? Thanks.

Have you verified serial configuration by trying to communicate with it via PuTTY or TeraTerm first?
