Thanks for such a detailed bug report! Native CSS nesting is a pretty new feature in browsers, so I'm not surprised there's cases that don't work quite right.
#4261 added support for `.mjs` to `@lwc/compiler` and `@lwc/rollup-plugin`.
Could you provide a playground link to reproduce the error? Might be helpful to bump the `engines` in this PR as a signal and/or merge conflict for ourselves later, so that we remember to do the bump.
