[Epic] Android edge2edge support
Description
This is an epic listing the tasks needed in order to bring full support for Android's edge-to-edge layout, as explained in this equivalent research issue - #7978.
This needs to be addressed!
@d4vidi have you been successful on making the status bar fully transparent? I tried using https://www.npmjs.com/package/react-native-edge-to-edge but the status bar seems to be always separate from the rendered Navigation component

I'm currently focused mainly on the bottom tabs. The status bar is going to be a tougher nut to crack, I believe - but we'll get there. Any suggestion /ideas in the meantime?

Do we have some rough timelines for fully releasing this edge-to-edge support asap?

What are the remaining points that need to be implemented before we can officially launch this feature on the v7.x.x releases? Are we only talking about status bar support and a few keyboard usecases that are remaining before we go live?

What are the related PRs to this feature that have been merged so far to review them? Are they under specific keywords or labels to filter them with?
@aattalla this is an Epic issue, have another look at the description and research issue and revisit this from time to time in order to see the updated game-plan. Hopefully that would clarify where things are and what we need from the community 🙏🏻
