Define, measure and enforce performance targets

Accord should not only be simple, it should be fast. Runtime performance has always been desirable but never a first-class design goal; proper benchmarking should be put in place to ensure validations are as quick as possible. Resulting code size and (ideally) compilation times should be considered as well.
