Authentication (Token verification) failing
About 5pm CEST I had connectivity issues with wire backend on both desktop / webapp and mobile. After a while, I got logged out from the Desktop app and wasn't able to login anymore.
I've looked at what requests were made and which failed and I've found out that login works fine as well, the token was received but another call to /self returned 420 error code which was displayed on the app as "Unexpected error". The same behavior I have on your webapp.
I've noticed that about 2 hours ago some changes regarding tokens were merged to the branch and that was also the time where the issues started. It's quite a high priority as I cannot access any of wire services requiring auth token.
Hi @Lkopo thank you for opening up an issue and alerting us to this situation.
The pull request you are referring to was not deployed on any of our environments and thus could not be the cause of it.
A status code of 420 indicates that we are detecting too many requests coming from your client: we are currently investigating root cause but we have already taken preventive measures that should already allow you to log in.
