Wire keeps messing with my Windows Mic volume

Wire version: 3.16.3562 Operating system: Windows 10 Pro Which antivirus software do you have installed: ESET

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Set Mic volume in Windows to some nice value
  2. Start a Wire video call
  3. Speak softly, or loudly for 20 seconds
  4. Re-open device's mic volume settings in Windows
  5. It is now a different value.

What is the expected result?

Wire doesn't mess with my computer's audio settings.

What is the actual result?

Wire messes with my computer's audio settings.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

Same on Wire in browser (Windows 10 1909) 😋

I experience the same on Linux, it's unbearable, it makes my mic very loud almost all the time. it should definitely be a checkbox. I would even build Wire on my own and disable it but I would lose all those sweet, sweet patented codecs.
