"Download pictures" doesn't work

Hi,

"Download pictures" set to "always" should automatically download every received picture to the local storage, shouldn't it? It doesn't do anything but I'm pretty sure it did back in the day. Downloading pictures manually doesn't work either.

There is no error message. Permission to access "storage" has been granted. Do I miss something or is it a bug?

Environment: Android Version: 10 (OxygenOS 10 by OnePLus) Wire Version: 3.46.890

Hi @toni-do, thanks for the report. We're aware of this problem. The "Download pictures" toggle set to "Always" means that pictures will be downloaded to Wire's internal storage no matter if you use WiFi or a mobile network. Saving picture to an external storage (the gallery) is a different thing.

Right now we try to figure out the default location of the external storage and it turns out that on some phones we get it wrong. I create a ticket for that. Our proposed solution is to stop assuming the default location and let the user choose where you want to store the picture. But implementing that will take a bit, so we have to make decision if we want to do it (maybe there's another way) and if yes then when. We'll keep you informed.

Downloading pictures works on my Nokia 6+, Android ver9. It would be nice to also be able to select multiple images to be all download at the same time. Thanks,
