Android 7.1.1 (Sony E6853) images are not shown

On a Sony Sony E6853 with Android 7.1.1 images which are on the sd card are not displayed inapp. The images are uploaded and can be shared with users, but the are shown as "Octet Stream" files and not as pictures. The preview in the app does not work. When a picture from the internal storage is upload the images is shown inapp. I checked the permissions on the storage but everything seems to be alright.

App has been updated recently.

Any ideas? Benjamin.

I guess this bug is fixed now, as the functionality was rewritten. @DrAxelbauer , can you confirm?
