[Feature requests] all features I would like to see in Wire (add your wanted features too!)

I've seen a few threads here with feature requests, but it's easier for the developer and the community to see which features are wanted, when they're in one thread together, so no features are requested again and again.

If you have some feature requests, you're welcome to add them with a comment!

So, here's my list of features I'd like to see in the Wire app, they're not sorted.

• [x] invite others to a chat with a link (like Telegram or Facebook) or maybe with a QR-Code that can be scanned? (implemented in pro version)

• [x] show when someone has read a message (should be possible to disable, could be lack of security) (implemented)

• [x] quote messages (implemented)

• [x] backup function (maybe just offline, we won't take risks on security! (or on Wire Servers))? (implemented)

• [x] maybe "guests" without account, for chats with open invite link (see above) (I think could be useful, if you don't want to directly sign up just because you want to have a look into a chat and want to write one or two messages), but, of course, not all features are available and should only be possible in a browser (implemented in pro version)

• [x] automatically delete messages after a set time (implemented)

• [x] show number of unread messages in a chat (implemented)

• [ ] show Chat history on a new device, after that device has been verified

• [ ] option to "lock" the app with a pin or password (on devices with fingerprint reader, unlocking with it also possible)

• [ ] maybe a "real" background image (changeable) in chats (probably hard to implement, because of the UI-Design)

• [ ] show when someone is online and maybe when he was the last time online (should be possible to disable, could be lack of security)

• [ ] show in groups when someone has read a message (should be possible to disable, could be lack of security)

• [ ] it's sometimes hard to see which messages has been wrote when from whom, so maybe some interface changes in the chats

• [ ] use of Lineage SDK?

• [ ] possibility to turn a picture in chats

• [ ] custom and /or more selectable durations of time limited messages (I hope you know what I mean)

• [ ] easier way to forward massages to others

• [ ] status feature (like "working" or "sleeping"), but not really necessary (maybe time controlled? For example: every Monday to Friday from 6:00 to 18:00 the status is automatically set to "working", that would be useful)

• [ ] set a picture for group conversations

• [ ] possibility to remove profile picture

• [ ] easy accessable quick responds like "OK" or "Yes" or "Yes, for sure" that can be directly sent in a chat to safe some time (I hope you know what I mean)

• [ ] mark messages, so they can be easily found in a menu (e.g. when the other one wrote something that's important the next day) (maybe "liked" messages can be used for that, but there's no easy and fast way to find them again, but scrolling threw the chat)

• [ ] bots? (like in Telegram and Skype)

• [ ] split screen: write with two people the same time, one chat is on the top, one on the bottom? (not sure if that is very useful)

• [ ] import-function, to import the chat history from other messengers like WhatsApp? (don't know if that's possible)

• [ ] block screen shots (should be possible to disable)

• [ ] use keyboard in "password" mode, to make it more secure (should be possible to disable)

• [ ] custom notifications for chats (like in Telegram)

• [ ] possibility to see some statistics about data usage etc.

So, these are the features I would like to see in Wire in the future.

I don't know if the first suggestion is possible or could compromise security, but if it would compromise it I don't want it.... Also I'm not sure about the bots one... Again I think it would have the same issue..

But all your other suggestions I completely agree my friend and I hope they are implemented soon, especially the reply to a specific message individually by quoting the message, the lock chat with fingerprint, the read status, and of course a bit of change in the messages ui (because it's very confusing at times which message is from who etc.)

Yeah, you're right, the first one should be optional. :D And I just want to give things to think about. :D When the developer say "yeah, bots are cool and don't bring personal information in danger" then it's cool, and when they say it does they don't implement it. :D

More robust notification settings on the android app would be great. You can set it to silent in system level app settings so youre not constantly getting the full message dropdown but still get an icon notification, but it seems silly to not be able to do that within the app itself

I'd like do permanently delete informational messages, like "this device was not used some time" or "this message is deleted" - no need to read this more than twice, just cluttering up the history

Not so much a feature and more of a change but I'd like the emoji picker to scroll vertically so you can swipe horizontally to change categories.

we don't have a correct backup/restore yet. you cannot backup from win and restore to android.

Horizontal user interface, ios has it, why not Android?

we need option to resize own camera view on videocalls, it is too small now.

I would like to have the feature to pin (and unpin) messages, so that they are in some way always easy to find, even when they scroll out as new messages are posted.
