Cannot search for files in a mounted remote SSHFS directory in Windows File Explorer
When trying to search for a file/directory in the remote mounted SSHFS directory using Windows File Explorer, nothing happens!
SSHFS-Win mounts its drives as "network" drives, which are not indexed by default on Windows. If you really want to have network drives indexed, search online and you should be able to find solutions.
Hi @billziss-gh,
I apologize if I am not understanding the indexing issue, but Google searches says I have to set Always Available Offline
to the network drive in order to be indexed. I can see this option available in SMB network drives, for example, but I cannot see this option available for SSHFS drives, when I right-click on the drive's folder in File explorer. Is there something that needs to be done on the Windows side, or something from the SSHFS-Win32 extension side, to have this option available in FUSE-SSHFS drives?
It seems that different Windows versions handle Windows search on network drives differently. Unfortunately I do not have the time to fully research this at this moment, but I am reopening to do so in the future. In the meantime if you come up with a solution, please post it.
