Higher resolution option
Make it possible to set resolution to 720P which is very good but not very laggy.
I'm considering 480p. However, 720p is too large for 3ds to decode. Also, the screen resolution of the 3ds is 800 * 240. 720p is like 1280 * 720, so it doesn't make sense. 480p is already 854×480.
Is 800P possible?
I also have something weird i have an Samsung FHD Smart TV but on YT i can max watch 720P
Youtube doesn't provide 800p videos. It offers 144p, 240p, 360p(current max on ThirdTube), 480p, 720p, 1080p, ... Just in case, XXXp means it's XXX pixels tall, so the width is longer than that.

Maybe the video was uploaded only with up to 720p variant. If you see 1080p and more on other devices such as PC, it's another problem, but it's beyond the scope of my support here anyway.

Hope we will get 480p soon even if its a bit too big i just want to get rid of the black bars...

If you are talking about the top bar where the time is displayed, you can remove it from settings (Display/UI -> Full screen mode)

No I am talking about the aspect ratio bars I think it's cause the 3ds screen is 16:10 not 16:9
It's a good idea to have the option to zoom in a bit so that the black bar disappears though the edge of the video is going to be cut off. (and maybe one to forcibly change the aspect of the video to fit it in the screen)

my s9+ is 21:9 and on some videos it cuts off alot compared to that this will barely change anything while getting rid of the bars

First result from google: "The screens all use the same effective resolution – 400 x 240 pixels"
I suppose I'll talk under this issue because the subject was discussed, even if this is tangential to the original issue.

I would like to formally request this as a feature, lol. I would really like this. It's not that the letterboxing is upsetting to me.
Rather, I would be interested in seeing old 240p videos (or recent videos downscaled and re-rendered by YouTube, which they do to almost every video) at the original 240 pixels tall (i.e. with no filtering or scaling being done).
It's honestly not worth that much, considering that YouTube's re-renders at low resolutions are crushed by low bitrate so there's not much "perfect pixel accuracy" to be gained, but it would at least be neat.
is it already hardware decoding? because i cant even go past 144p on my old 3ds.. there are some games on the 3ds with prerendered cutscenes, and they work fine at high resolutions on my old 3ds

old 3ds currently only supports 144p and new 3ds supports currently up to 360p
For what it is worth, with the newest version of Core_2_Extreme's Video Player I can get away with 960x540 at up to 30FPS usually, 1280x720 works up to 15FPS, and 1600x900 boots at 12.
Not pretending I know how this works, but it seems there could be a bit more headroom on the table here. At least for 480p support, anyways.
