Hi @oskardotglobal, the official icons are not licensed under OSI-approved licenses, and I did not want to expose this project to any legal risks.

I think that‘s covered under fair use, but thanks for the consideration

@oskardotglobal I am fine with generic icons. However I think we should have some kind of marker for those (at least a comment).

@LDprg If using the icons from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dorico_Logo_2024.svg and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Turbotax_logo.svg is legally acceptable, I can modify this PR to use those. Just let me know.

Using the icon on its own (without the text) is a safer option. It may also be worth adding a brief note such as “This is a registered trade mark of _____. No affiliation with WinApps.” wherever we display third-party icons, for example in the README where we display several.
