Cannot open Excel file stored on a Windows NTFS partition mounted to Linux

I get the following error message:

You can currently only open files on the home drive, sorry.

You can however try mounting the external drive to the VM too, then you could at least open them when Excel is already launched

@MathisP75 This may not work, but you might like to try adding a symlink to /media or /mnt within your home directory and testing whether you can open files on external drives within Windows that way? Something like ln -s /mnt ~/mnt?
