docker-compose to run containers and retain code changes or data after killing them.

Hey!!!! I've watched your talk at DjangoCon US 2018 . It's really great and very useful for me as a beginner and i wanted to know about how to survive the code changes and other modifications done to data or any sort of changes made to our project when it is running in container and not to lose it after killing the containers.

It would be helpful to me if you can really explain this thing or show any resources to learn from. Thank you.
