This is cool. Is this faster than installing from a (cached) .pkg on macOS or is the main benefit being able to run this on Windows?

I'm no longer seeing this issue on Ubuntu 24.04 and Chef client 18.7.10, but it could be because the upstream file has changed. Either way, I'm closing this as fixed.

Yeah removing `lib/chef/*/.gitkeep` is intentional since those directories will always exist. I'll take a look at why the spec tests are failing.
