Google "Ad" search results

I realised that a site which is in my block list appears in a Google search but is prefixed by Ad in a small box. Can these entries be blocked or is it a cunning ploy by Google to make these sites unblockable ?

The HTML notation of ads might be different from regular search result. So I might need to update the dom crawler to hide result prefixed by "Ad".
