appreciation week and chatzilla question
Eek. This place is weird but I had to go through all these hoops to say thank you thank you thank you. It's difficult to find a decent browser for el capitan. If we aren't handing over the big bucks weekly steve thinks we're dirt. But he got his, heh heh heh :) Anyway

even if you don't continue to consistently issue old mac releases, could you do them once in a while ? Like, every major upgrade or so ? 32 bit please, it's faster (honest. 32 bit is always faster than 64 for small tasks. Now we have bit fantasy to go along with herz fantasy).

Can you clarify what is the story with chatzilla ? Ambassador seemed good but now doesn't work with sea lion ? altho it did at one time ? the sea monkey version is like 19 or something, the one on the hackrsrus site is 9, it's unexplained anywhere and a big mess. If possible, ambassador sounds like they removed some telemetry garbage, which I like. The removal, not the garbage :)
And once more, thank you thank you thank you. I am so appreciative of being able to keep this old macbook which I like running. It's a wonderful thing and some of us really appreciate it, maybe more than you know.
Did I mention this place is weird ? And they thought it would be better than svn or cvs ? Strange :D

I no longer have the hardware to build for Intel Mac. If you want something that's updated regularly that works on El Capitan, look in to Pale Moon and/or Basilisk which support 10.7 and up.

I haven't a clue. Ambassador was a fork of Chatzilla, but is no longer maintained. I suppose Chatzilla may also no longer be maintained. That i never looked in to. Ambassador could probably be made to work with sealion again. Probably just a minimum version issue or something else small in the install.rdf that needs to be edited.
Cheers
A little sad you're are no longer a macpro guy, that's nice hardware. Would have worked super with Haiku or OS/2 :-)
Anyway, I think ambassador is probably a better choice than Chatzilla - it's several years newer and the head guy is quoted as saying he pulled some telemetry stuff out, so sounds good to me. We don't like telemetry. And chatzilla was not that perfect even when it was alive.
So I got the last issue of Ambassador then pulled a bit of the install.rdf from one of the addons you had in the SeaLion Extras file to get the

section. Rezipped to xpi but alas, SeaLion still says "Not compatible with SeaLion 33.0.0." 33 should be between 32.2 and 35 ?
p.s. No, I'm not changing :) I'll build the damn thing myself if I have to, can't be as picky as MIPSPro. You get used to the way something works, ya know ?
btw, when will you be bringing out a Motif version? I also despise gtk3 :-)
The only other thing I can think of is the "id" ? Where do you get that ? Even duckduck didn't show much there :(
SeaIRC.zip A while back i started to rebrand Ambassador as SeaIRC. I've attached it here. It should install and run fine. Let me know how it goes.
That's super, thank you very much. Trying to beat ambassador into submission was driving me crazy. Now I'll have to spend the evening trying to see what you did :)
{That whole install.rdf thing is not very well thought out :( }
While I'm here, I replaced all the names inside with SeaUrchin and the icons with related drawings, I know it's a bad pun but "ambassador" I'm sorry, makes me think of Anthony Blinken and Henry Kissinger and that icon just didn't cut it. Not sure about doing that to someone else's work but for private use, seems okay to me.
I wouldn't have bothered you but InterWeb quit working at duckduck, jeeze. Can they be any stupider ? They put two crummy graphics on the page and broke it. I'd dump them entirely but who then, Bing ? Sheesh.
Anyway, during the hunt I came across Netscape 9. It's also based on an early mozilla. It does some possibly useful things, might be worth your time to take a look. I particularly like the way it puts a closing x on only the active tab, which is pretty neat. There's some other stuff too, might be worth your while.
Also I did a search for "telemetry' in about:config on Sea Lion -- nothing. Not one entry.
You be da man :) For that reason alone, this browser deserves a lot more public attention !
Continue on, and thank you again !
Sorry, I'm back ... was thinking firebug and firepath could be useful ... a fish would be fine, no complaining :), but if you'd rather show us how, could you explain a little how we can figure for ourselves what extensions have the potential to work with SeaLion, and the basics of what you do to beat them into submission ?
btw, you probably know this but I came across it by accident -- SeaLion make a pretty good video player. I'm a confirmed vlc user but accidentally dropped an mp4 on the main widow, it opened and played much better than I would expect. I don't see a current vlc binary for ppc loonix, might this be worth promoting ? I tried a few different formats, most worked.
