An issue of issues.
Hi! I just acquired a Ruby iMac G3 with the intent of replicating this project!
You've had yours for a couple of years now, and mentioned that there were some sync issues you ran into that perhaps you might be interested in fixing later.
Have you run into anything else? The reason I ask is because there were some simple changes I was looking to make to the PCBs anyway. Wanted to make the rear HD15 usable for analog output, potentially by splitting the HDMI, then use a VGA DAC to that port. That way direct video could be used. Also looking at routing HDMI to the side panel, and tying in an esp32 to allow for some level of IoT control.
Figured it would be good to bounce off of you before plowing forward!
The main issue is that the display has a very limited sync range, it's not multi-sync. So you can't use analog output directly and you can't use the scandoubler. I had to use VGA output with the scaler enabled and the video mode set to 1280x960 @ 60hz. If you wanted to have a usable HD15 output you could get a HDMI->VGA DAC and use the HDMI output to drive the display and then you could use the VGA port on the analog IO port for your output.
