Was Able To Break App Installations & Fix It
Phone: Pixel 6 Pro OS: CalyxOS Raven
I initially tried out the Session installation method and it worked okay. I did switch to the Aurora Services installation method while trying to fix the bug since I found out it had automated updating which I'm fine with.
Not sure if the bug works on all systems or only ones that have have Aurora Store installed as a system app like you can do with CalyxOS as I don't have any other phones to test it on right now.
How To Recreate Bug While installing an app, exit the app screen on the Aurora Store. Doesn't matter if you just go back to search for more apps, go to your home screen on your phone or go to a different app just as long as you're not on the app screen in the Aurora Store to confirm the installation.
Now the Aurora Store will still finish installing the app's APK folder and file but if you go back to the screen to click Install it will just say "Installing" and won't do anything. My phone did show a notification that background installation was enabled but that's it.
Note: It could be that using the Session installation method was a factor on my system but I'm not sure. Just keep it in mind when trying to recreate.
How To Fix Bug Now I tried several things before I found the fix such as changing the installation method as I mentioned before and force closing the app but nothing really worked.
What did work is that I deleted the installation (APK) files located at Android>data>com.aurora.store>files>Downloads
Once I did that the Aurora Store could download and install the apps just fine.
How To Patch I wouldn't know exactly how to patch this bug but I imagine all you would need to do is do a check on the Downloads folder to see if the installation folder is there and to verify it's contents before downloading the APK from there.
I imagine that's what's already done but there's an issue somewhere there where if you ask to install it and the folder is already there it just freaks out and doesn't do anything.
It could also be a permission issue. I noticed the issue again when I tried to download something and accidently tapped outside the Install confirmation.
I had to delete the installation files before restarting the phone to get it working again.
Solution could be to be sure to re-prompt for installation permission.
Note: If I have the issue again I'll see if just installing it from the installation folder is good enough. Wonder though if Aurora will recognize it has been installed so it will update later. Will test.
