No toolbar buttons

I start up Android File Transfer and it shows all my files. I can navigate, delete files, create directories... but there's no toolbar, so there's no way to upload anything. I double checked that I'm connected via File Transfer. I have seen this bug with both a Pixel 3a and a Moto G6. I'm using Arch linux. I tried to find out what version of Android File Transfer I'm using, but I don't see an About and running it with --version doesn't output anything either.

Can you try installing the latest version? it should be fixed in v4.0 (I'm bundling icons with the app)

I tried it with 4.2 downloaded from Github and there were no icons... was I supposed to try 4.0 instead?
