Meeting 1 for joint OpenUI-WHATWG/HTML-CSSWG task force on styleable form controls
What is the issue with the HTML Standard?
As mentioned in the last WHATNOT meeting, the first meeting for the joint OpenUI-WHATWG/HTML-CSSWG task force on styleable form controls is scheduled for Wednesday May 8, 2024 at 8am PDT. The meeting will take place in the CSSWG virtual meeting room and IRC channel.
If you would like to attend, please reach out to me or any of the other group chairs or participants. I will add a link to the minutes afterwards in this issue.
Proposed agenda:
-
https://open-ui.org/components/selectlist/ 5-10 minutes for Joey Arhar to present some background, use cases and current status of customizable <select>
-
https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/5998 New appearance property value for interoperable and styleable form control elements
-
https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/10028 Changing UA styles based on the computed value of the appearance property
-
https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/10242 How to implement the <selectedoption>element
-
https://github.com/whatwg/html/pull/9841 InvokeTarget attribute for popover and dialog
-
https://github.com/whatwg/html/pull/9778 Popover=hint behavior
I think the first meeting (which unfortunately I can't attend) should really focus on introductions, goals of the people participating, and how the Task Force should be run. And then based on that form an agenda.
The event invitation is now published in the CSSWG.
I also can't attend the first meeting unfortunately.
For future planning, there is a request to avoid scheduling conflicts with the PointerEvents WG
https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/pointer-events/calendar/
Is that conflict blocking us from meeting again? Is there a next proposed time which conflicts with pointerevents?
We are looking for a time that does not conflict. Two options being considered are Thursday at 8am PST (starting on the 23rd) and Monday at 8am PST (starting on the 27th)
I was just reminded that the 27th is a holiday, so the next meeting will be on the 23rd.
The meeting notes were published: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2024May/0011.html
The next joint meeting is at #10351.
