Navigation keys broken out of the box

Open mcandre opened this issue 9 months ago • 5 comments

What Operating System(s) are you seeing this problem on?

macOS

Which Wayland compositor or X11 Window manager(s) are you using?

By convention, macOS/Emacs/Bash navigation keys should enable Ctrl+A to jump to the beginning of the line and Ctrl+E to jump to the end of the line. Instead, wezterm inserts dummy characters.

WezTerm version

wezterm 20240203-110809-5046fc22

Did you try the latest nightly build to see if the issue is better (or worse!) than your current version?

Yes, and I updated the version box above to show the version of the nightly that I tried

Please describe exactly the steps that you are doing and what you see. I personally have zero problem on MacOS, so it might be an issue with your environment, your configs maybe 🤔.

Make sure to try with the default config of Wezterm, of bash, of emacs..

Default wezterm configuration.

macOS zsh. I don't think I'm even using Homebrew zsh.

US QWERTY.

Ctrl-A and Ctrl+E work in Terminal.app.

Work in rio.

Work in Hyper.

Broken in iTerm2.

Broken in most other macOS terminal emulators.

Forget whether they work or break in Warp out of the box. Generally dissatisfied with Warp.

Ctrl-A tends to insert a capital D in broken terminals.
