Consider changing app name

Open aiyagari opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

There is another app with the same name that had malware insertion issues documented in https://blog.appcensus.io/2022/04/06/the-curious-case-of-coulus-coelib/ Google banned the app, but it's getting bad press and will discourage users. It may be a good idea to make sure this app is named differently so that no one mistakenly thinks it is related.

This was almost the reason I uninstalled because I wasn't sure whether this was meant. If a name change is too much, clarify that you have no association with the infected App in the README maybe?

The app exists in playstore so I guess not all people will try check app's source code, IMO changing app name may be wise decision.

@wewewe718 you should think about mentioning that this app is open source in a more prominent way in the paystore app description. I knew it from fdroid but wanted for some reason to find it on play store which was not very obvious to me. Also the GitHub link should be in the description.
