Slow or no loading of 1000+ files

Open blaminack opened this issue 7 years ago • 16 comments

I have been using this application for renaming a very large number of files. Loading 1000+ plus is very slow. Even 800+ is slow, but it seems the larger the number, the slower it gets. Being a developer, that doesn't surprise me, as loading list boxes and grids always seems to be the culprit. I would suggest having an option to load only 1-10 files. My renaming is simple and does not require me to see what each file name will be renamed to. Once loaded, renaming is almost instant. No problem there. Also, because of this issue, I am having to manually increment the file name, along with the auto increment it provides. So just a thought, a double increment might come in handy. Say once the "000" gets to "999" and second increment kicks in. FileName 01 999 -> FileName 02 001

RiT 3 is slow, RiT 4 should be fast. Could you confirm the version number?

Ah! Ok. I have 3.42 and thought I had the newest. The website only has 3.42 for Windows. www.beroux.com

This newer version is not accepting drag and drop. It shows the add icon but doesn't load them.

Also, after installing new version, my saved filter is gone.

Definitely faster! Awesome!

Another item, when I select to add folder, I can't select multiples, and when I reopen to add another, it doesn't remember the last path.

Drag&Drop should work. I don't remember either removing the last opened directory but that's definitively a possible issue.

Jst renamed 23k and was within a reasonable amount of time. Awesome! However, the progress file count appeared to be double. The status bar reports correctly and the complete dialog reports correctly.

I have Windows explorer open and searching multiple folders for files. Then I sort those by folder and type. That gives me all the files I want to rename. I drag and drop to Rename It. This was working in the previous version I had but not respondingin this newer one. It does change the cursor with files add icon.

I am seeing a similar problem with version 4 Alpha. In my case I am routinely batch processing 2000 files using the search and replace filter. The program stops loading at 1731 files with an error claiming that one of the early files in the list is a system file, which it is not.

Having a second go at loading files 1732 - 2000 works and the rename process on all 2000 files then continues without issue, although the status reporting indicates that 4000 files are being processed.

The error down if there is a system file, should allow you to either abort or continue though.
