Mentioning Users with @ in the username do not work, it should show notification at Bell icon that is Notification tray like Trello

To highlight e-mail addresses for users on the system we set usernames with e-mail addresses. When doing this, we noticed, that mentiones then break. The e-mail notification is not sent. We were hinted to this as the @username was not highlighted anymore.

(why the mention @wolfram.schmidt is highlighed in the image above I do not know. The screenshot is from after I changed the username. Maybe it's related.

After removing the @ from the username is seems to work again. We were wondering if maybe the reason was the spaces created by the system because of the fullname in brackets afterwards. This seems though not to be a problem as seen in the following example where the e-mail-notifcation worked
