Please define "self-accept"

https://webpack.github.io/docs/hot-module-replacement-with-webpack.html uses the term "self-accept" assuming the developer knows what it means. I've read the prerequisites listed on that page (Using Plugins and Code Splitting) and still have no idea what "self-accept" means, based on the documentation alone.
