New Row of Shorts displayed on Subscription tabs
Seems like YouTube forced the shorts on us again by adding a new row of Shorts at the top of the "All subscriptions" view (currently with black thumbnails but that's another issue)
Can you remove this new line that's taking immediately 70% of screen estate when you select "Subscriptions" ?
(I have already check the "Remove Shorts from subscriptions" checkbox, but I think this settings applies to the shorts thumbnails that were listed among the normal videos in the subscriptions... Here there is specifically a separate new row of shorts showing up at the top)
+1 to this request. I only noticed this last night and thought my 30 day 'Not Interested in this' selection for not seeing shorts had expired again, but no, it's something new entirely being force fed by YT. This new annoyance needs adding to the evergrowing 'crap no-one asked for that needs blocking' list.
I really do wonder who the hell Shorts videos are aimed at and what their point is. I suppose not being an ADHD diagnosed millennial with the attention span of a goldfish means I'm not the target audience, but really, who the hell wants these crap Shorts videos at all… ever? I have never seen any single one Shorts video I would entertain the idea of sharing with anyone.
The thumbnails as the OP said are absolutely massive (even though they're entirely black (blocked I suppose by YTAF) such that they take up the entire display area so you can only see the row of shorts and nothing else. Yoy have to scroll down to see the normal subscription video thumbs. Please someone save our remotes from overuse by blocking this garbage.
and Millenials probably don't watch Shorts on a Smart TV, but instead on their phone...
True, very true. Just to add to the nonsense and I don't now if this is related or not, but I noticed this morning the 'screen goes black' while skipping FF/REW through a playing video problem has reappeared again too. Thumbnails of chapter markers are now all black and the playing video screen goes black as well instead of showing a preview of the scene about to be skipped to. These are all old problems previously solved with updates to YTAF. It appears YT have changed something to 'break' those fixes yet again.
Now back to this issue, I haven't seen that "new row of shorts at the top of All Subscriptions" for some time now. So unless Dibrom2 or others says they experience the problem currently, we can close this issue.

This is absolutely a current issue. I checked it not less than 2 hours ago. When you go to your list of subscriptions and choose any one of them, a new row of shorts videos are inserted right at the top of the subscription videos. They are all blanked out (black) so all you can see is the description of them, forcing you to scroll down to get to the actual videos you wanted to see. There is a small delay (~500ms) before they appear, so they're obviously being inserted by YT and are not part of the subscription video tiles.
Happens on all of… LG 43” TV - LG43UP8000PTB LG 43” TV - LG43UR8050PSB LG 65” OLED - OLED65C2PSC
all running YTAF v4_0.3.6
If I don't see it anymore, maybe there was an option to disable them somewhere (possibly on the web). I don't remember.

The only working way of disabling shorts displaying is only temporary (30 days) and involves loading YT in a standard browser view (on a computer, not a phone or tablet or smartTV). When the section you are not interested in such as Shorts or Playables etc. displays, then you click the … elipsis at the top right corner and select 'Not Interested'. This will 'hide' that entire section from all form of display on all devices under the same logged in user for a period of 30 days. After 30 days, YT switches all hidden sections back on again because they're pricks, so then you have to go back and do it all again.
The shorts section being shown above subscribed videos viewed through YTAF on smartTVs is immune to this form of hiding sections and displays regardless. There is currently no way of stopping it.
An option to completely disable shorts from everywhere would be good right?
New update v0.3.7 is great and fixes a good many things, but unfortunately not this forced insertion of shorts videos at top row of subscription videos. Any chance of an update to kill all these shorts videos being inserted?
Edit/update: Is there any acknowledgement or understanding of this annoyance? This row of shorts on subscribed threads makes YTAF almost unusable for subscribed threads. You simply can't quickly and briefly browse subscribed threads anymore for new videos because what you want to see is completely blocked out and hidden by giant vertical portrait aspect thumbnails of irrelevent shorts videos you don't want to see. Is there no way of blocking this stupid content being forced by Youtube?
This is still a thing. Annoying thing. Can someone please fix it? Or give instructions how can I fix it myself? Stupid shorts and youtube pushing it. I don't want shorts YouTube. Never.

It rather seems the devs refuse to acknowledge this is a problem. Either that, or for some reason of which we're not aware, this shorts video crap insertion doesn't happen on their flavour of YT (perhaps its region-specific or user-specific/targeted behaviour to only certain users?? - who knows?)
Youtube are big enough that they can experiment with certain new developments on only a portion of their userbase to see what they can get away with and what really pisses people off. Maybe this annoyance is part of that. One thing's for sure is that we'll never find out because Youtube will never draw back the curtain to show what's going on.
Pull requests are welcome.
